What is a Medallion Signature Guarantee?
A Medallion Signature Guarantee is a special certification (or stamp) provided by certain financial institutions that verifies the authenticity of your signature. To obtain one, you must endorse the back of the certificate and have the signature(s) guaranteed by an eligible guarantor institution.
STC can only accept guarantees from eligible guarantor institutions that participate in a signature guarantee program supported or approved by the SEC, STA (Securities Transfer Association) and STC.
This program includes:
STAMP – Securities Transfer Agents Medallion Program
SEMP – Stock Exchanges Medallion Program
MSP – New York Stock Exchange Medallion Signature Program
Verify My Signature – Global Online Medallion Services
A Medallion Signature Guarantee may be obtained at any national bank or brokerage firm.
